NHS App improvements

Over the next year, we will be transitioning the majority of our regular outbound patient communications onto the NHS App. This is part of our commitment to ensuring that patient communication is more secure, efficient, and integrated with your healthcare records. The NHS App offers a range of benefits that make it the best way for us to keep in touch with you about your healthcare needs.

Why We Are Moving to the NHS App

  1. Enhanced Security – The NHS App is much more secure than SMS or email, ensuring your personal medical information is protected.
  2. Access to Your Health Record – You will be able to view your GP medical records, track prescriptions, and monitor referrals all in one place.
  3. Test Results & Doctor’s Interpretation – The app provides timely alerts when new test results are available as they come out from the lab, along with the doctor’s interpretation (typically within 48 hours of the result arriving) and any necessary follow-up actions.
  4. The Safest Way to Order Medication – The NHS App offers the most accurate and secure way to request repeat prescriptions.
  5. Integration with Other NHS Services – Increasingly, the app connects with other NHS systems, such as PATCHs, allowing for better coordination of your care.

What This Means for You

  • We strongly encourage all patients to download and register for the NHS App to ensure they continue to receive important communications from us.
  • During this transition, when we can’t use the NHS App, we will use email instead of SMS as it is more secure.
  • For patients unable to use either the NHS App or email, we will continue to use SMS messages and phone calls where necessary.

How to Ensure We Can Reach You

  1. Register for the NHS App – If you haven’t already, you can download the NHS App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and follow the instructions to register.
  2. Update Your Email Address – You can update your email address directly in the NHS App:
    • Open the NHS App and log in.
    • Go to Your Account.
    • Select Manage Your NHS Account.
    • Choose Contact Details and update your email address.
    • Save the changes to ensure we can reach you securely.

If you need assistance setting up the NHS App or updating your contact details, our reception team is happy to help.

By moving to the NHS App, we can offer a safer, more efficient, and more comprehensive way to manage your healthcare. We appreciate your support in making this transition as smooth as possible.
